SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) is a natural compound made in the body from the essential amino acid L-methionine. It is involved in a number of body processes, including membrane function, neurotransmission, liver detoxification, and bone and joint health.† Although SAMe can be synthesized in the body, it is dependent upon the presence of sufficient levels of other nutrients including methionine, folic acid, and vitamin B12. Dietary supplementation of SAMe is an effective way to support optimal levels of this compound.

Suggested Use

SAMe donates methyl groups to create other compounds in a process called methylation. Methyl groups are crucial for formation of cell components including proteins, nucleic acids found in DNA and RNA, and phospholipids that form nerve cell membranes.
