Ther-Biotic® Synbiotic combines seven strain-specific, probiotics with the prebiotic Sunfiber®, a partially hydrolyzed guar gum. This comprehensive, broad-spectrum synbiotic helps to support GI, immune, and respiratory health.
Sunfiber® is a galactomannan (not a starch- or sugar-based fiber). As a prebiotic fiber that serves as food for the gut microbiome, it helps to support a healthy gut flora, which supports digestive health and overall wellness.
In addition, Sunfiber® is a medium-chain carbohydrate that offers medium fermentation, causing no excess GI discomfort even in the most sensitive patients.
The human microbiome influences many factors required for health and well-being, including metabolic function, gastrointestinal (GI) barrier health, immunologic activities, and neurobehavioral balance.1,2

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that populate our microbiome. When consumed, probiotics — as friendly, live microorganisms — can provide health benefits by helping to improve or restore healthy flora in the gut. Prebiotics, or dietary fibers, serve as a food source for beneficial bacteria like probiotics. In short, probiotics “seed” the microbiome while prebiotics “feed” the microbiome. Synbiotics combine probiotics and prebiotics together in one convenient, comprehensive formulation. By leveraging and enhancing the beneficial actions of each of these nutrients, synbiotics are able to provide a more profound entourage effect on GI ecology than probiotics or prebiotics alone.
Both inulin and Sunfiber® are prebiotics, or food for healthy microflora. However, inulin is classified as a high-FODMAP nutrient, and, as a result, some individuals with GI sensitivities may experience difficulties digesting it — especially if they are new to prebiotic supplementation.
These same individuals often have reduced populations of beneficial bacteria in the gut, making the processing of hard-to-digest fibers, like inulin, especially challenging. Sunfiber®, in contrast to inulin, is a low-FODMAP certified soluble fiber.
As such, it is an ideal prebiotic for those who want to support populations of healthy flora in the gut but struggle to digest complex fibers. From the healthiest to the most sensitive persons, Sunfiber® is a perfect adjunct for promoting healthy GI ecology without unwanted side effects.
For probiotics to work effectively in the GI tract, they must first survive the harsh acidic environment of the stomach. Several technologies are available to protect probiotics from this acidity.
For example, Ther-Biotic® products are generally formulated using Klaire Labs®’ InTactic® technology.
However, InTactic® is added within the capsule and so occupies additional capsule volume. In our efforts to offer Ther-Biotic® Synbiotic in a convenient, single-capsule serving, we chose to house this formula in a delayed-release capsule.
Delayed-release capsule technology, like InTactic® technology, enhances the survivability and optimal implantation of the probiotics, but it also allows for the inclusion of a prebiotic within the allotted capsule volume.
The term “FODMAP” is an acronym for Fermentable Oligo-, Di-, Mono- saccharides And Polyols. FODMAPs are short-chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. They include oligo-saccharide polymers of fructose (fructans) and galactooligosaccharides (GOS, stachyose, raffinose), disaccharides (lactose), monosaccharides (fructose), and sugar alcohols (polyols) such as sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, and maltitol.
